Our Mission:
Books In Sync was created June 2009 for the sole purpose of bringing exposure to new authors and their books. The 2010 Books In Sync campaign is to not only bring more authors to the site, but readers as well. Our goal is to bring readers and authors together, boost book sales and improve the authors’ one-on-one relationship with their potential readers.
Note to Publishers:
As much as we appreciate publishers wanting to place their authors’ book (s) on Books In Sync, it is the policy of BIS that the authors contact BIS and place their own book (s). Books In Sync will not promote publishers. Books In Sync was established to promote authors and books only.
The staff at BIS communicates and works directly with authors to help them promote their books and their online presence. At Books In Sync, we do all the work so authors can focus on writing. Books In Sync does not allow outside advertising on the site.
The staff at BIS is dedicated to providing authors with every means of promotion we possibly can and at a price they can afford. We educate authors about establishing their online presence, presenting themselves to the public, tips on what works and what doesn’t, advice based on previous sales experience, good or bad, and the importance of making sure everything given us to present to the public on their behalf has been proofed and approved in advance.
Note to Authors:
It is the desire of Books In Sync to help you with your book promotion. Please know that BIS works hard on your behalf to represent you and your work in the best light possible. We ask in return that you communicate with us, check any documents we present for approval before posting to the internet, and ask questions if you are uncertain and that you also participate as much as possible.
Please be advised that periodically, BIS staff will send emails to share site upgrades and/or important BIS site news, including advance notice of annual subscription renewal, changes in policies and anything related to Books In Sync, Books In Sync authors and their books.
Please be advised that you need to set your mailbox settings accordingly in order to receive periodic emails from BIS so that you never miss an update.
Please be advised that out of respect for the hard work that Books In Sync’s Staff does to market you and your book(s), ignoring BIS email correspondence for 6 consecutive months or mail daemon occurrences, your Author Page will be subject to becoming non-viewable by the public eye.
Please be advised that out of respect for the ongoing expenses at Books In Sync, after a period of 12 consecutive months of non-communication or mail daemon occurrences, your Author Page and all materials you’ve submitted will be subject to deletion upon the sole discretion of Books In Sync founder and owner, McLean Services to allow for space for another author. You’ve come to us to help you promote your book(s) and you must understand that you also have to participate in the promotion if you expect results.
Also note, if given notice that it’s time to renew your annual subscription and you do not comply within 30 days of notice, you will be removed, including all materials submitted for use in your book’s promotion and should you decide to return later, you will have the start the process over and pay the going rate at that time.
Please be advised that you will be requested to fill out a legal and binding “promotional contract” for one year of promotion. Any new materials submitted after the initial setup is subject to additional fees.
Once you have decided on and paid for a service (onsite or offsite promotion) at Books In Sync, there are no refunds due to the labor involved with each service package.
Thank you for trusting Books In Sync to help promote you and your book(s). We look forward to assisting you up the ladder of success and though we cannot promise sales, we can promise the best internet presence possible, bringing you to the top of the search engines for best exposure. All we require is that you also try your best to promote not only your book, but yourself as well.

As Books In Sync moves forward in our campaign to bring Book Readers to Books In Sync in order to bring readers and authors together we thought you need to know this:
Is my work protected by copyright?
By supplying us with your materials to post them onsite, you are granting Books In Sync the non-exclusive right to display your work in digital format. Books In Sync claims no hold on the copyright of your work.
While your work is protected by U.S. copyright law from the moment it is created in tangible form, you may wish to register your copyright with the copyright office to insure the full range of protections. Visit http://www.copyright.gov for more information. If you are an author from outside the U.S., you should consult your country's copyright office and/or laws for more information.
Notice of Intellectual Property/Copyright Violations:
Books In Sync was created to help authors promote their written work in a safe and fun environment. Our goal is to build a community where authors and book readers can congregate and beneficially communicate with each other.
Books In Sync respects the intellectual property of others. We sincerely hope that Books In Sync authors and readers will look out for one another in this respect.
The creator of intellectual works owns the copyright and any violation can be and should be acted upon by the creator immediately upon discovery within the USA or their own countries court system. Books In Sync will terminate the account and delete all submissions of users who are found to be infringing upon the intellectual property rights of others. By completing the online submission contract form, you are allowing us to promote your work online and claiming copyrights to that material.
If any Books In Sync’ user has any reason to suspect his or her intellectual property rights have been infringed upon, you may use the following contact link to report the matter. promotionalservices@booksinsync.com
When we are informed of such violations, we will act immediately, investigate and violators will be banned from Books In Sync.
If you (the creator) believe that your intellectual property rights have been violated, you will need to provide to Books In Sync with the following important information: Creator’s Name, Email address, phone number, and the name and description of the work that you have discovered that constitutes copyright infringement on Books In Sync.
Please file a report of intellectual property infringement with the Library of Congress and take the appropriate actions in the USA or your countries court of law.

Book Price Policy:
Books In Sync is a promotional site and does not sell books. Books In Sync provides links from the author’s book to his/her website where the author/publisher handles all the sales.
Financial Obligations and Liabilities:
Books In Sync was started as a hobby with the expressed purpose to meet and help other authors. Books In Sync’ (McLean Services) is not an employer or publisher. Books In Sync is a for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of authors and their books.
Contractors:
All authors become contractors when they agree to place their books on Books In Sync. All authors are responsible for reporting their own books sales to their appropriate State and Federal Tax authorities in the US or in their country when their book profits exceed the allowed hobby amount. Books In Sync (McLean Services) does not hold out or report taxes. This is the sole responsibility of the contracted Author.
Example of Contractor:
All the specialty author services listed on Books In Sync are owned by private contractors. Books In Sync cannot be held liable for work performed by a private contractor referral.
Any agreement between an author and a private contractor is a matter subject to the parties involved only. Books In Sync is a promotional site only offering onsite promotion only. All other services listed on the site are private contractors, including but not limited to: Off Site Promotion, Editing, Book Reviews, Book Trailers, Book Covers, Business Promotional Aids, E-Book Digital Publishing, POD Book Publishing, Etc.).
Privacy Policy-Commitment to Your Privacy:
Books In Sync is owned and operated by Theodocia McLean. Your privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to us. At Books In Sync we want to make your experience online is satisfying and safe. Books In Sync gathers user information on an Optional Voluntary basis. We offer the services, which require some type of voluntary submission of personal information by users.
Anyone completing a form on Books In Sync for contests or other reasons, will be put on the email newsletter list automatically, but can be removed by special request. Books In Sync does not sell email addresses or personal information. All information supplied by members if done so voluntarily and is used for the sole purpose of promoting authors and books.
Electronic newsletters policy (Dispatches):
Book In Sync offers a free electronic newsletter to users. Books In Sync gathers the email addresses of users. Books In Sync holds the right to post the Books In Sync newsletter and all content that authors have given the Books In Sync staff for the newsletter on blogs, author networking sites, etc.
Children:
Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personal identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18 without requesting parental consent.
Sharing Of Information:
We will not share information about individual users with any third party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
Non-Discrimination Clause:
Books In Sync will not discriminate during editing, formatting, reviewing or marketing a book or work by an author based on race, religion or sexual orientation. However, Books In Sync holds the right not to accept books that use graphic language and pornography is not allowed on the Books In Sync site. If an author has a book that he/she wishes to advertise that is outside the scope of what Books In Sync deems appropriate for all audiences on Books In Sync, the author has to agree to very limited posting of materials in order to still use Books In Sync services and to protect the innocent that visit Books In Sync (i.e. limited description, no book cover and no book excerpts depending on the material submitted and no book trailers). Books In Sync holds the right to refuse any book that has profanity and/or graphic, sexual or violent content.
Service Prices Subject to Change Policy:
Books In Sync is a subscription site and reserves the right to change prices without notice because of time restrictions based on the number of volunteer staff, turn around times, amounts of submissions and marketing expense. The price change will be reflected in the new pricing information on the proper page of the site. No Refunds under any circumstance. If an author subscribes and then cancels, he or she will have to pay whatever the going subscription fee is if they wish to return later.
Notice Of Forms Of Books In Sync: All Forms And Information There-In On Books In Sync Are Voluntarily Submitted By The Author.
